Praise for Today – Back to the Starting Point
On Facebook, I click ‘Home’ and find myself thinking how great it would be if I could click “Home” and go immediately to my Heavenly home.
‘Home’ on Facebook and Web sites or other social media represents the starting point. When I find myself longing to go home, I’m longing to go back to the starting point. How did I get so far away from home?
The starting point is where God created me and all of humanity in His image. We were in the Garden of Eden before sin changed human beings and planet Earth. Because of the decision made by Eve and Adam to distrust God, all of us as their descendants are born with natures that tend to be selfish and distrust God. In my life, I have not always followed God’s will and trusted His plan. I have found that doing things my own way instead of God’s way lead to very undesirable outcomes. Relying on our own feelings and wisdom leads to selfishness and pride and results in confusion, despair, anxiety, and pain, both physical and emotional.
Over time, I have learned to trust God because I can see that His ways are better than my ways. Looking around at the result of sin on our earth, I see that it is a mess. Looking at the result of sin in my heart, I see that it is also a mess. Praise God for his offer and a plan to remake me and take me home, back to the starting point. This is the place I long to be.
Recipe for Today – Mango and Greens Smoothie
Mango and Greens Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen mango cubes
- 3/4 cup almond milk (or a little more if needed to help smoothie blend easier)
- 1- 2 cups baby spinach
- 2 romaine lettuce leaves
- 1 Tbs ground flax seed
- 5 or 6 fresh mint leaves or 5 or 6 fresh basil leaves (optional but this is a great addition, fresh mint leaves make this my favorite smoothie)

Steps
- Mix all the ingredients in a high power blender
Note: For my blender, it helps if I chop the lettuce and baby spinach a bit first before adding to blender. Also, in my smaller blender (Magic Bullet), it helps if I first blend the almond milk with baby spinach and romaine lettuce and mint leaves first before adding the frozen mango and flax seed.
This recipe is inspired by Dr. Fuhrman. My friend Tammy told me about Dr. Fuhrman and his books and great recipes this summer. I am so grateful for his “nutritarian” approach and recipes that have me really enjoying, craving salads and smoothies like this one. You might enjoy his recipes, too.
